Welcome to the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. The Mechanical Engineering Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree enables the student to enter the job market as a Mechanical Engineering Technician in either manufacturing or design.

Degree Programs

Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Concentration, A.A.S.

Manufacturing Concentration focuses primarily on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Robotics, Statistical Quality Control, Plant Layout and Material Handling, and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing.

Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design Concentration, A.A.S.

Mechanical Design Concentration focuses primarily on Fluid Systems, Strength of Materials, Machine Design, and Air Conditioning.

Technical Certificate Programs

  • Machining Fundamentals is designed to equip graduates with the basic machining skills that will enable them to find entry-level positions in the machining and metal fabrication fields.
  • Advanced Machining is designed to equip graduates with the advanced machining skills that will enable them to find high-level positions in the machining and metal fabrication fields.
  • Mechanical/Manufacturing CAD emphasizes the basic skills needed to begin a career in industry. The program covers four important areas; the study of materials and how they behave; basic manufacturing processes and quality used to create everyday products; computer-aided design concepts; and the use of modern computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Quality Assurance provides the student with intensive measuring and testing skills. Major areas of study include common measuring instruments and techniques using micrometers, gage blocks, and calipers; special measuring equipment and techniques using coordinate measuring machines, computer vision machines, and digital measuring devices; materials testing covering stress and strain analysis, tension and compression tests; metallograph inspection and analysis; and hardness and strength studies involving heat treating.

  • Entry level Machinist $35,000-$47,00 per year
  • Finisher $26,000-$34,000 per year
  • Packager $20,000-$26,000 per year
  • Programmer $58,000-$78,000 per year
  • Quality Inspector $42,000-$57,000 per year
  • Skilled Machinist $46,000-$62,000 per year
